Blues

lyrics

Stumblin’ around from bar to bar
hopin’ that the next one ain’t too far
lost my phone, lost my car
can’t remember where I left my guitar
Thought I ate a hot dog but it was a cigar
Got the six bar blues

Bar number one was a sleazy dive
I was glad to get out of bar two alive
At number three I danced on the bar
Bar number four was a bar too far
At number five I stole a bar stool
Now I got the six bar blues

Wanted to go for that dactyl feel
accent on the top bring the second beat to heel
so dotted sixteenths instead of eighths
and slow down the tempo so it’s possible to play
instead of twelve bars I got six
Yeah, it’s the six bar blues

Bar number six I had drunk my fill
that is what I managed not to spill
I’m seein’ double, I’m in lots o’ trouble
when I try to sing I blow bubbles
my feet won’t go where I want them to
That be six bar blues

The more you drink, the stupider you get
you do all kinds of things you know you’ll regret
you say things that you’d rather forget
but your friends will all remind you, you can bet
in the morning all the laughs will be on you
that’s the six bar blues

Found out I’m engaged to someone named Marie
On my way home I wrapped my car around a tree
broke the windshield with my head, I’d feel lucky I’m not dead
If only this hangover was not killing me
Let this be a lesson to you how not to be a fool
Let me never play those six bar blues again.
